Caring for your jewelry

Extend durability and avoid wear with these advice

The jewelry from House of Vincent is made from precious metals and will naturally patinate over time when put into use. As this cannot be avoided without care there are steps you can take to treat your jewelry to make sure they always look as good as new. Follow below instructions to extend both durability and life while protecting the coating. Below is our recommendations.

  • Don't sleep with the jewelry on
  • Put the jewellery on as the last part of your morning routine, so they avoid too much contact with various skin and hair care products, make-up, perfume, etc.
  • Take off your jewellery when playing sports, showering, washing hands or touching water/liquids.
  • Do not expose the jewellery to solvents and chemicals, e.g. by wearing them during cleaning or similar.
  • Do not expose the jewellery to extreme temperatures such as heat/cold or direct sunlight (e.g. sunbathing).

Storage

When you're not wearing the jewelry, we recommend that you store them securely in a closed box, fabric bag or similar and optimally separately so that they do not scratch each other. By storing them in a closed container/jewelry box, you also avoid exposing the jewelry to oxygen or direct sunlight. Do not store your jewelry in damp rooms, such as the bathroom.

Oxidation

The precious metals will naturally oxidize over time when they are put into use and come into contact with moisture, light, dirt and oxygen. This is therefore not a complaint. Oxidation of the jewelry will also depend on the individual's PH value, which is why this process is individual.

Clean

Clean your jewelry regularly with a soft cloth (not microfiber) and neutral detergent and lukewarm water.

Please note that pearls are NOT detergent-resistant and should ONLY be cleaned with water, otherwise they may lose their shine. For more stubborn dirt, a soft toothbrush can be used to gently scrub the jewelry. If this method is not effective enough, most jewelry stores and supermarkets have products such as polishing cloths and cleansers for either gold or silver that are specially developed for this purpose.

Abrasions

Ordinary wear and tear when using the jewellery over a period of time is not covered by the warranty.
